About

Between the regulators and the regulated.

Two bar admissions, four languages, and years spent both in the rooms where the rules are written and inside the businesses that have to live by them.

Dr. iur. Joanna Michalik, attorney at law admitted to the Swiss and Polish Bars, standing portrait

I am a multilingual technology lawyer admitted to the Swiss and Polish Bars, advising international businesses on commercial, technology and regulatory matters. The work runs from contractual structuring and intellectual property to the decisions that carry real consequence in regulated markets.

Much of that experience was earned inside the business rather than across the table from it, alongside the teams who had to turn legal requirements into working practice. It taught me what a legal answer costs to build, and that advice is only worth something if someone can act on it. I work the same way from the outside: close to the product, and explicit about the trade-offs.

My approach

Counsel that commits

A regulatory framework is rarely a fixed obstacle. More often it is a set of terms a business can negotiate with.

You get the recommendation first, the reasoning behind it second. Where the law is unsettled I say so plainly, then set out the position I would defend, and what defending it requires of you.

I take on matters where the legal question and the commercial one can be answered together. Where a matter calls for volume rather than judgment, I say so at the outset and point you to the right place for it.
